Internal Revenue Service (IRS) – Good Governance for 501(c)(3) organizations and Governance Information on Form 990

The IRS Form 990 is an annual information return required to be filed with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) by the University as an organization exempt from income tax under the Internal Revenue Code. Commencing with Tax Year 2008, as part of the University’s tax return the IRS inquires whether the exempt organization has board-approved policies regarding conflicts of interest, whistleblowing, and record retention and destruction.  The VP and Chief of Staff, as Secretary of the Board of Trustees, is responsible for maintaining the board-approved conflict of interest policy for trustees and for administrating the annual conflict of interest disclosure process for trustees.
